It was a cold overcast Melbourne morning.

We arrived between 11.30 and noon and set ourselves up in the two shelters Brian Garrett had organised for CHACA, till about 12.30.

Then seeing we were only a small group of lucky 13 members, we huddled up into one Shelter.

Ray Nichol was the member first to arrive.

We were all warmly dressed for the day.

We all enjoyed our first hot drinks; morning tea and lunch was consumed one after the other to warm us up.

Most of us bought our own food and drinks; however a couple were lucky to enjoy the fare that was supplied by 4 food vans next door.

Their local market was set up next door, so some of the ladies had a quick peruse.

By 1.00pm Brian decided it was time for the Birthday cake.

So Irene got that organised and Ray Nichol being our longest serving member.

Cut the 55th Birthday cake. (Official:  CHACA club start date being 1966.)

The cake was very enjoyable being sponge, custard, cream and strawberries.

Not too much left over, but it will be frozen and appear at the next club function.

Wanting to keep on the move, after cake and hot beverages we decided to head to the train rides.

Eight were happy to take a ride.

And we all purchased Big Kid tickets $4 each

We had a great time on the train ride and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

The Bulla Hill Railway members have put such effort into the surrounding scenery of foliage, burrows,

bridges, rail signs and a few excellent dinosaur sculptures.

All invigorated after our train ride we had another hot beverage,

with chats,  and then headed home about 2.30pm.

We were very happy that we had made the effort.

Thank you Brian and Irene for arranging a fabulous run, and Birthday Cake

The Healeys and The Bakers live near the place, and have never been!

Bulla Hill Railway is open on the 3rd Sunday of the month throughout the year

Noon till 4pm. It is operated by The Tullamarine Live Steam Society.

Refer to their website or Facebook page for additional services over the summer period.

One shelter today was being used for a children’s party.

All members, Covid-19 safe signed in on arrival, and used hand sanitisers supplied.
